June 2007 - The wettest since records began !

June was an interesting but rather frustrating month. On the 2nd we made our maiden voyage down to Keadby in glorious sunshine, negotiated several swing bridges but no locks. Moored overnight and went for a drink and returned to the marina in the morning. Plenty of friendly anglers and kids swimming off the bridges. Unfortunately they broke the bridge and BW had to come out to repair it. One of them with suicidal tendencies hung off the next bridge as it was raised. Thereafter the weather got worse and we worked hard on the house. Our second trip was even shorter out and back in the rain on the 24th, at least this time we got back into the marina without banging into any other boats. Then the heavens opened in earnest and most of the waterways were closed due to flooding. We had to slacken ropes as the water level rose by 18ins but when you see what some people suffered we have nothing to complain about.

Finished the house - lets see what July brings.
